To the Lee County Commission,

The people of Lee County have elected you, placing their trust in you to represent their interests and be their voice. But it seems that you have been turning your back on them, refusing to answer to the public, and neglecting your duty to communicate and engage with the very people who put you in power.

True leaders never forget where they came from. They stay connected with their constituents, listening to their concerns, and are not afraid to engage in meaningful dialogue. You have chosen a different path, a path of isolation and indifference toward those who elected you.

The people of Lee County deserve better, and they deserve a Commission that is willing to listen, understand, and take action on their behalf. You were elected to serve the public, not to hide behind closed doors or avoid their questions. What good are power and authority if they are not wielded responsibly and accountably?

Public office is a privilege, not a right. It is a position of trust, and you must honor that trust by being accessible and transparent. The people have a right to know what you do and why you do it. They have a right to be involved in decision-making processes that affect their lives and their community. Refusing to speak with the people who elected you is denying them their rights and disregarding the very foundation of democracy.

Reevaluate your approach and reconnect with the people. Engage in open dialogue, hold public forums outside your 5PM 2nd & 4th Monday meeting, and listen to the concerns of the public. You will not only uphold your responsibilities as elected officials, but you will also demonstrate true leadership, garner respect, and build a stronger community.

Will you continue to turn your back on those who entrusted you with power? The choice is yours, but remember, the voice of the people cannot be silenced forever.
