SOLID WASTE OR WASTEFUL SPENDING.....

This is our 10th Be Informed Special Edition concerning Auburn Waste Management Enterprise Fund.

What is an Enterprise Fund? Funds that at are set up to be self-sustaining government entity such as the Waste Management, The Sewer Board and the Water Board.

What is a work session ? It is where a city council works on an issue concerning the city while being open to the public, but there is NO opportunity for public to give input during the meeting. IDEA..maybe we should have a Citizens Work Sessions with the council and top city staff attend with no input.

I attended one of these work session this past April 30th. Unfortunately I was the only citizen that attended, please citizens attend the inter workings of our city government.

The Council could not even decide how much raise in salary they should receive. They even ask our city manager how much their raise should be, of course it would not be appropriate for her to do so. So sad to see our governing body with such lack of confidence.

Auburn council members are the lowest paid council of any top 10 Alabama city. While we have the highest top 3 paid city employees of any other top cities in Alabama. Auburn also has the highest average salary by a wide margin of any top ten Alabama cities.

We need an informed city council to speak for us. Only full time well paid council members can accomplish that.

As Councilman Griswald states every dollar we transfer from the General Fund into the Solid Waste Management Enterprise Fund is a dollar we lose from other things. But more importantly every dollar we spend excessively on Wages, Salary and benefits is a dollar we lose from other things also.

George Washington was quoted “If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silence, we may be lead like sheep to the slaughter.

You can make a real difference.

Please get an editor. Non words. Incomplete sentences. Improper (or lacking) punctuation. Wrong tense. Etc. You might be 100% right, but you won’t be taken seriously with such writing.
