LEE COUNTY, Ala. — Cam Hunt, candidate for Lee County Sheriff, announced today that he  has received the endorsement of the Lee County Farmers Federation, a leading voice for  farmers, landowners, and rural communities throughout the county.

“We are excited about Cam Hunt’s candidacy and know he is qualified for the job and ready  to accept the challenge of being our next sheriff,” said Robert Walters. “He will work hard  and represent the people of this county with excellence.”

Hunt said he is honored to receive the endorsement and emphasized the importance of  strong leadership in the Sheriff’s Office for Lee County’s rural and agricultural  communities.

“Agriculture is at the heart of Lee County’s history and identity,” Hunt said. “Much of our  county outside the city limits is rural and agricultural, and the Sheriff’s Office is the primary  law enforcement agency serving those unincorporated areas. Protecting farms, responding  across large rural areas, and ensuring our agricultural communities are safe is a critical  part of the sheriff’s responsibility.”

Lee County has long been rooted in agriculture, a heritage that continues today through its  farms, rural communities, and the influence of Auburn University, one of the nation’s  leading agricultural universities.

“As a county with a proud agricultural tradition, it is essential that we have a Sheriff’s Office  that understands and respects our rural communities,” Hunt said. “Farmers and I share the  same strong work ethic and conservative values, and I look forward to serving them and all  the people of Lee County.”

Hunt was born and raised in Lee County and graduated from Auburn High School. He later  attended Auburn University, where he studied political science and international relations  while also playing on the Auburn University football team.

After graduating from Auburn, Hunt joined the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Selection Program  and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He served as a field artillery officer with

the 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, holding several leadership positions before  completing his service with the rank of captain.

Following his military service, Hunt continued his commitment to public safety in law  enforcement. He served with the Opelika Police Department as a traffic homicide  investigator and as a member of the Lee County SWAT Team. Hunt has also served as an  FBI firearms instructor and a certified law enforcement sniper. He later worked with the Lee  County Sheriff’s Department from 2023 until 2025.

“A strong sheriff matters for communities like ours,” Hunt said. “Rural residents deserve the  same level of protection and responsiveness as anyone living inside city limits. As sheriff, I  will work every day to ensure the people of Lee County have a Sheriff’s Office that stands  for Justice, Liberty, and Accountability.”

Hunt and his wife, Kalyn, have three children. They attend First Baptist Church of Opelika.

The Farmers Federation uses a grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on  endorsements from county Federation boards to support candidates in local elections.
